My How Time Flies...

It's hard to believe that Steve and I have been married for 2 years now. I know that it's long, but it feels weird that the time has flown by so fast. As time continues to fly by, we are getting more and more excited to expand our little family and welcome our little baby boy in less than a month and a half. We can't wait to see what he has in store for us and many more anniversaries to come.

Seven Months... and Counting...

I don't usually post pregnant pictures of just me, but I've gotten a few requests from people wanting to see my progress since we moved, so here you go...

Things are going well. I'm about seven months and down to my every 2 weeks doctor appointments. The doctors all seem really nice, and after I rotate through all 5 that are in the practice, I will be able to choose one to be my primary doctor. As far as everything else goes, I'm just trying to get everything ready and make sure we are all set for our little baby boy to arrive!! We are getting really excited and can't wait for the big day!!

Intramural Soccer...

As an outlet from his school work, Steve's playing intramural soccer and flag football. The soccer team has a couple guys from his program on it, but mostly has other guys from our ward that are also students at Clemson. He was really excited about their first game, which was last night. They all played really well and it was really fun to watch. Their first football game will be next week. Clemson vs Citadel...

Last week was the first home football game. It was at 3 in the afternoon, and still scorching HOT and humid!!! We have tickets to each of the home games, but I don't think I will be going to all of them until October, because that is when it starts to cool down here, unless it's a night game. Let's just say they refer to the stadium and this area as, "Death Valley". It may not be for how hot it is here, but I think that could work too. It was a lot of fun to see everyone decked out in their Clemson gear.

I think the coolest part of the game is the beginning when the football team pulls up in two huge buses, jumps out and gathers at the top of the stadium where they prepare to run down the hill onto the field. On their way down, they all touch "Howard's Rock". This is a rock that was given to Frank Howard, the coach in the early 1960's, by a friend and Clemson graduate. The rock came from "Death Valley" California to "Death Valley" South Carolina. After keeping it in his office for a while he tried to get rid of it, but it was placed on a pedestal at the top of the east end zone where the team ran by it before every game. That first game, they ran by the rock, Clemson beat their rival Virginia by 5 points, and the coach took it as a sign and it has now become a tradition. From now on, the team runs by and touches the rock for good luck before running down there hill into the stadium. This is considered the most exciting 25 seconds in all of college football.

First Friday Parade...

The night before the first home football game, they do a parade through campus. It's basically the band, and all of the sororities that walk around cheering to get everyone excited about the upcoming season. We went down with another couple that we have become friends with since we have been here. I don't think I have seen so much orange in one place ever before... until the football game the next day of course... but it was fun to be there in the middle of it. Everyone seemed to be really into it and cheering, but I could sense a little soberness due to their loss to Alabama the week before. No matter what, it was fun to see A LOT of school spirit, even if it is colored in orange and purple...

I need everyone's sizes because I have found your Christmas presents... That's right, orange overalls with matching Clemson Crocs!! Yes, they really do sell adult orange overalls , and apparently people really do wear them...

School started... followed by a Tornado!!

School started for Steve on the 20th of August. It's keeping him really busy, but he is enjoying it. I'm still trying to get settled around the house, which is pretty much done, except for the baby's room. It has kind of become our "catch all" room. As much as I try to get in there and clean it out, I'm running out of places to store things and still have enough room for a baby to live in there. It's coming together slowly, but surely.

A few days after school started, the remnants of Hurricane Fay came up this way. We experienced a lot of rain, strong wind, and a TORNADO. Steve had been up on campus earlier in the day studying, but luckily I had picked him up a few hours earlier. He was planning on going back up, but after watching the news all afternoon and seeing that we were had a tornado warning, he decided to stay home, and I'm glad he did. It finally got to the point where the weatherman told everyone in our area to take cover. I camped out in our bathroom and Steve was in the hallway right outside. Nothing actually came right our way, but there was one that touched down on one of the fields up on campus. Luckily no one was injured, and not too much damage was done. I was glad we were both safe in our apartment and I didn't have to worry about Steve being up on campus. I haven't had to take cover for a storm like this since I was little when we had to go into our basement, but I think we are in for some crazy storms out here.
