Louisiana

We were so excited to be able to go to Louisiana for Ashley's baby blessing. It was a quick trip for us because we had to get back to South Carolina for Steve's internship, but we had a great time with the whole Trythall family and we were glad we were able to make it. While we were there we were also able to celebrate Steve's mom's 60th birthday. One of the highlights of the trip was being able to take family pictures! It was a great weekend and we can't wait to get together again!our little family

Crawling..

Jack started crawling a few days ago, and he's caught on pretty fast. He's made a few more discoveries and found some new things he likes. Guess we have to make our house even more baby proof! One thing's for sure, he sure does like "non"toy items more than his actual toys. And everything still goes straight into his mouth.

A crazy May..

It's hard to believe that May has come and gone. We had a great month full of a lot of fun.

During the month of May... We Moved. Our baby turned 6 months! Jack and I surprised our family and flew to California for 2 weeks while Steve toured the South Carolina coast for school. We Celebrated some birthdays. We went Swimming. We went to Disneyland. We cheered when uncle Gregory graduated from USC Orthodontics program. We watched some little league baseball games, which happens to be one of our favorite spring/summer past times! We had Grandma Nan and Papa Frank out for a visit. We Went to Charleston. Jack became more mobile. But the most fun of all was spending time with family and friends!

The move...

A few days after Steve finished school we moved. It was a little challenging doing it on our own with a 6 month old, but we did it! Luckily we didn't move very far and we had a couple friends come help us with some of the big things. I mostly felt bad for Steve because he did most of the moving. We set up Jack's crib the night before we started moving things so he would have a place to nap while I worked to get organized. Knowing that I was leaving for a few weeks and Steve's parents were flying back from California with me, I was determined to get the house somewhat organized. Although it wasn't perfect, and I'm not sure it never will be, I felt good that my kitchen was all put away and most of our rooms were livable and there weren't boxes everywhere. It was nice to come back from California to a neat and semi-organized home.

A California Surprise

Back in March Steve and I decided it would be fun for me to surprise our families and go home to California for 2 weeks while he was touring the South Carolina coast for school. It was also perfect timing with a few birthdays in my family as well as my brother Gregory's graduation from Ortho school. I made a few phone calls to our parents and Finn (my brother in law), to make sure they would be around during that time. But they all promised me they would keep it a secret. And they did. I think it was probably the hardest for me to keep it a secret! I have to admit, I almost blew it a few times, but I'm glad I didn't.

It worked out that I would arrive in California on my brother David's birthday. That being the case, I knew I would have a chance to surprise my family when they were all together. Steve's mom picked me up from the airport and I was able to spend the afternoon with her and surprise some of Steve's family as well. After talking to my mom and Finn, I knew when they would be together for cake and ice cream for the birthday, so I timed it around that. It was fun to walk up to the door and ring the doorbell when only a couple people knew that I was on the other side.

I'm glad I was able to pull it off and I can't wait to do it again! My niece Kate made me laugh when she came up to me as she was pinching herself, making sure she wasn't dreaming!

Although we had a great time visiting with both families, we sure did miss Steve!!

Charleston South Carolina

We had been trying to figure out a time that worked for Steve's parents to come visit us for awhile. It worked out well, because the time that worked best for them was when I would be heading back from California, so they flew back with me. It was nice to be able to travel together and have a couple extra pairs of hands while we made our way through the airport. Jack loves playing with Gramma Nan and Papa Frank so it was great for everyone.

While they were here, we decided to go down to Charleston. We had heard a lot of great things about it and Steve and I had been wanting to go down there for awhile, so it was fun to be able to see it all together.

We walked around a bit, but one of the highlights of the trip was the boat ride and tour we went on to see Fort Sumter.

Uh oh!! Jack's mobile!!

While we were in California, Jack would stare so intently at his cousin Molly, (my brother David's little girl) as she would crawl... almost like he was trying to figure it out. Well when we got home he started to get the hang of it, at least in his own little way. He can get around pretty fast. But he's starting to get up on his knees a lot more, and I'm even more nervous for how fast he'll be moving when he masters that part.
