Florida

Steve had spring break this week so we decided to go down to Florida to visit my sister Adrienne and her family. Steve only has classes Monday and Wednesday, so we decided to drive down on Thursday to get a head start on the break.

Jack did really well on the drive. He has started to not like being in his car seat and tries so hard to lift his head and use his elbows to get out of it, but no luck. He was able to sleep a little bit, but I sure do miss the days when we would put him in his seat and he would fall right to sleep and sleep the whole way. Those days are long gone.

The timing of our trip worked out well because it was my niece Madeline's 12th birthday. We got there just in time to celebrate with them. We were so glad that we were able to be there for her special day!

We were able to go to the beach for a few hours. It was Jack's first trip to the beach. We put his feet in the sand and he was just trying to figure out what it was. The water was super cold, so when we put his toes in he would immediately curl his feet up and pull them out. Next time he will be more mobile and be able to explore more.

4 months... Already!!

Jack turned 4 months old today. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. It's so fun to see him develop and become more mobile. He's rolling over and almost sitting up by himself. And before we know it he will be crawling! We look forward to those milestones but at the same time don't want to see him grow too fast. I know the rest of the year will fly by just as fast as the last 4 months have. So we'll try take as many pictures as possible! Here are some I took of him today.

To celebrate, we went to a Clemson basketball game. Steve had been to a few, and I had been wanting to make it to one, but the times always seemed to be too late. This one was a little bit earlier in the evening so we were all able to go. Jack did great! He was intrigued by all the lights. Gotta love all the orange and purple!

Winter Wonderland

Today we had our first experience with South Carolina snow. A couple weeks ago there were reports that it could possible snow, but of course, that didn't happen. Well, today is a different story. It's snowing!! You would think that I've never seen snow before with how excited I got when the rain started to thicken up and became snow. I remember when I was living in Utah, I loved the first snow. I enjoyed it for a couple more days, and then I was ready for it to be gone. Luckily here it doesn't last very long. So we have to enjoy it while it lasts.

We wanted to introduce Jack to soft white snow, so we took some pictures. There is a lot more out there now, but I was so excited that I just had to capture the first evidence of it.

Sleeping habits...

On any given day you could walk into Jack's room and find this...

(Don't worry, we monitor this activity closely and we never let him sleep with it.)

Sick little guy...

While we were home in California for Christmas, Jack got his first cold. While he got over the congestion, he was left with a bad cough. I took him into the doctor when we got home to have him checked out and the doctor said that everything sounded good and his cough was probably just left over from his cold. He told me that it would more than likely be gone within a week or so.

We continued to wait for the cough to subside, but it never did. Then, over a week ago he came down with another cold and he was running a little bit of a fever. So, to the doctor we went. She told us right away that he had a mild case of RSV and an ear infection. She gave us antibiotics for his ear and a nebulizer to do breathing treatments every 3-4 hours.

Jack had a hard time with it at first, and we had to chase him around with the mask a little bit, but after a while, he started to get used to it a little bit. He even started to pull the mask up to his mouth and hold it there. Now, the medicine is a different story. I just hope we got some of it in his mouth and not all down his chin. We go back to the doctor on Wednesday, and hopefully she will give us the all clear. Until then, here are some pictures of him during his breathing treatments.

Biltmore Estate...

A few weeks ago we went up to Asheville North Carolina with some friends. We had been wanting to go to the Biltmore Estate ever since we moved here. We had heard how beautiful it is up there so we were excited to make the quick trip. For any of those that may not know, the Biltmore is the largest house in America. The house itself is 4 acres of floor space, and is surrounded by thousands more to make up the 125,000 acre Biltmore estate.

We had a great time visiting the estate. We ate lunch at the little Bistro that they have added, Went to the River Bend Farm on the property and toured the massive house which is surrounded by trees. We can't wait to go back in the spring and fall when the seasons change again. If anyone is up for a visit, come on out and we'll go!!
