Jack's Blessing Day

Jack was blessed on January 4. We were able to bless him at home so most of our family would be there. We missed those that couldn't be there, but glad to have those that could! It was a great day! Later that evening we had a nice dinner with all of the family. I designed a blessing gown and had it made. It will become a tradition in our growing family, as each of our children will be blessed in it and it will become a family heirloom down the line. Steve wasn't so into the idea of blessing his son in a gown, but he "warmed" up to the idea (so did Jack!).

I will say that Jack did a great job breaking the gown in. I was going to change his clothes after the blessing, but my mom told me just to leave him in it because it wouldn't be that much longer until we went home. I should have done it anyways!! About an hour after that he had his first real blowout. That's right, in the gown!! I was DYING!! Luckily my mom was able to take the gown home and get "it" all out. I should have taken pictures of it, but in the moment that was the LAST thing on my mind! I will say that it is an experience that I will never forget!!

Here are a few pictures from the blessing. We wanted to get pictures with everyone that was there, but due to other church meetings, a lot of people had to leave right after. So here are a few after Church and that night at dinner:

Gert, Jack, Steve, Finn and Kirk
Bill, Bob, Dad, Jack, Steve, Ben and John
Mom, Jack, Steve and meBecky, Ben, Steve and JackTrisha, Jack and me

Thank you to everyone that came and helped make the day so special! We love you!

Whitney, thanks so much for sharing all of this and the pictures! I had been meaning to ask you about it while you were here. We wish we had been able to come - it looks like it was a really special day. Love you!

So, fun Whitney. I would love to see a close up of the gown. That's so neat that you designed it. He's adorable.
